2018 opening hours
Bidston Lighthouse opened to the public every Saturday afternoon from Easter Saturday (31st March) until Saturday 1st September, from 11:45am until 4pm.
Different arrangements apply during the Heritage Open Days in September.
The season concludes with openings on:
- Sunday 23rd September, 12:45pm – 5pm, and
- Sunday 14th October, 12:45pm – 5pm.
Guided tours start on the hour. First come, first served. Second hand books, souvenirs and light refreshments are available.
Admission Charges. Free admission to the ground floor (reception) and oil room (bookshop). Guided tours of the signals and lamp rooms cost £2.50 (adult) or £1 (child).
Restrictions. Children must be 1.06 metres (42 inches) or taller to go up to the lamp room, and must be accompanied by an adult at all times. All visitors to the signals and lamp rooms must be accompanied by a guide. There is no access to the lamp room balcony on open days, for health and safety reasons.

Nearby Bidston Windmill opens from 10:00 am until 12 noon on the first Saturday of each month from April to September. It is closed during the colder months when hibernating bats resume their winter residence.
